Bridesmaid/Prom dress ....?

We need to buy a dress for my daughter. She is going to be a bridesmaid for my niece and the bride would like her to wear a prom/cocktail style dress. It needs to be pink - either baby pink or pale pink - not fuchsia. We don't really want to spend more than £80 if we can help it. We are fortunate as we are going on a cruise later in the year so she will make use of it at the formal nights!

My daughter is a size 8 - 10. We also don't want to make her look too much older than she is! We have a couple of months yet to the wedding but would like to start looking. Anyone have any suggestions?

PS we have tried Monsoon and, although they have some beautiful dresses they are all £160+ and not pink!

Bridesmaid/Prom dress ....?
Hi, Im also a size 8-10, my sisters wedding was last summer and her budget was £60 per dress, I was a bridesmaid and the dress I wore was from principles petite collection, it was purple underneath with a black and silver lace mesh covering the purple fabric, the dress was actually called 'the cocktail dress'. It was worn by me (23) and two other bridesmaids both 30.

It went below the knee, had a v kneck and cut off at the top of the arms, I wore silver shoes with it. The dress cost £50 and I've worn it twice since as its so versatile and can be dressed up or down, The trick I think is to find out the size of all bridesmaids and shop around in places you wouldn't usually expect to stock traditional apparel.

Also in debenhams they offer a free personal shopper assitant, my mum used this service and they managed to find her a beautiful pastel pink dress for £70.

I hope you find what you're looking for x
Reply:Check round charity shops, i know it may be hard to find one however they are ones available. Also check Topshop, there not too formal or informal.

Lastly you could look around renting one if you cant find out, just lending it out for the day.
Reply:try monsoon... m m m i love that place i won best dressed with a dress from there
Reply:Hi well you could try next. Or there were some lovely prom dresses on ebay in the ebay shops. You don't say how old your daughter is.

Another place to try is the nomads website they have some beautiful clothes on there and very reasonably priced.

Or you could look up your local tailor/dressmaking service and have one made.

Have a lovely wedding and cruise!
