How do i store my fuchsias over winter in my unheated greenhouse?
I just leave mine outside and in spring I then give them a prune and a tidy up. However, mine are hardy (ie can cope with the frost). If they are not hardy you should just pop them in the greenhouse, and again prune in spring when new growth appears. Also give a good check for bugs in the spring if they have been in the greenhouse!

Good luck
Reply:I feel terrible now! I cut back my fuchsias in October and leave them. They come up every year.

You've made me feel that I'm being unkind to them! But seriously, they grow each year and they are always delightful. I have a tiny garden, with just enough room for a garden shed, but no room for a greenhouse, heated or otherwise, so my gardening is a bit rough and ready. I am always experimenting. My gardening really has to be described as 'container gardening' so I'm probably not the best person to answer your question, but I am sure you will have some very helpful answers. Best wishes.
Reply:Green houses are bad for storage, we leave our in all the year round in the garden, we cut them back once all the foliage has dropped, if they are in baskets all the baskets are put in a shed untill the spring
Reply:ours are growing directly in soil and have been outside last 12 years, they are all large flower varieties `swing time etc`just leave them .if you need to prune do it in spring when new growth starts.some of the plants were 3/4 ftdia and 2/3ft high hope this helps
Reply:After your fuchsias have experienced a light frost or two, they should be pruned back hard, say to the edge of their containers, leaving 6 to 8 inches of branch. Upright growing stems can be cut back to about 6 inches.

Store them in a dark place where they won't freeze, but where they can be kept cool and in a state of dormancy (not growing.) During storage, be certain they don't dry out. Check every two or three weeks and water as necessary. Probably more fuchsias are lost over the winter due to drought than to freezing. A sheltered location, such as an unheated garage, works quite well.

Some gardeners bury fuchsias after cutting them back, setting them in trenches and then filling in the trench with earth or mulching material. Winter rainfall keeps them from drying out.

In early February, bring fuchsias into light and trim off any dead branches. Water them and fertilize lightly. Keep them inside shelter until all danger of freezing is over and the plants can be set outside in early May.
Reply:Fuschias can be left in the garden over winter or if they are in pots and you wish to put them in a green house they don't need any care. Just bung them in there and next late spring you will see them start to sprout new growth.
