Stuck on wedding colors?

Hello, My wedding is at the end of June 2008 in Toronto.

I can't Decide on my wedding colors! I know I want Lime Green in there, but at first I picked Fuchsia to go with it, but now that I really look at the place where the reception is, it doesnt match! The reception venue is mostly merlot colors, chrome chandaliers 25 foot bar, historically perserved brick as the inner walls, The building itself is in a historical area, it has a wine and dine feel to it, very beautiful! My wedding dress is fitted and Diamond white, we have the bridemaid dress but can't order cause NO COLORS! ok so after all this please give advise toward the colors im thinking of Cherry and Lime Green, any suggestions on different colors? Types of flowers to match this color? the flowers on my cake and sweet table and frozen in my ice sculpture ( love birds) is White Calla lillies, so the color has to look good with white aswell. Please Help!!

Stuck on wedding colors?
The first thing that came to me was coral, red/orange, or peach color. I think that Lime green is a pretty color, you could use the Lime as the main color or as an accent color. If Lime green is the main color then have your maids dresses as the accent color and the lime in their flowers or hair (accessories). I think that the coral, red/orange, or peach colors will go well. Merlot is a color of nature so I think you could use it to your advantage as a back ground color.

Also if you do a general search for color wheel you can experiment with different colors and have complimentary colors to fit the mood that you are trying to create.
Reply:Well it sounds like you want summer colors (which makes sense since your wedding is in the summer), but your venue has more of a fall/winter theme. I wouldn't worry too much about whether your bridesmaids will clash with the venue; I don't think anyone would notice much. But don't you think cherry and lime green might look a little like Christmas? What about lime green and aqua blue (like the grass and the sky) or lime green and soft pink (like a flower)?
Reply:i read in seventeen that silk purple is the royal rich color queen and its full of romance..
Reply:Talk to your florist. They are very creative and could best tell you colors and flowers to best complement the green you want with the venue colors.
Reply:silver and royal blue

Reply:How about adjusting it to spring green (bright but not too bright) and just mixing that with black and white? If you get too many bright colors going, it gets gaudy and you ruin the effect of having a striking color. then your flowers could be white ones that have nice bright green foliage, and it will look beautiful! If you need just a splash of another color here or there, a nice coral orange would set it off nicely.
Reply:ahes of roses? dusty rose? pink? they would all look very nice with the green and merlot! it sounds beautiful and i hope your wedding is picture perfect sweetie!
Reply:cherry sounds good though don't like lime green. How about like a rich darkish purple and deep red. (royal kind of colours) flowers could be red roses.

I'm having pink and white.
Reply:Why not just go with ivory? Or a creamy white? Lime green is a difficult color to match with such a modest backdrop as you've mentioned. But I think that the ivory would also tone down the lime green enough to work perfectly. Plus, your calla lillies would match right in there!

Good luck, I hope you get the help you're looking for!
Reply:How about one of the shades of cream or white?

Reply:What colors does the bridesmaid dress comes in? After all, if it doesn't even come in a shade that you like best, it's not gonna be one of your colors. Not worth picking dark purple if your dresses only come in lavendar.

I LOVE lime green. I used lime green in my tropical wedding. I had it paired with turquoise (my bridesmaids dresses), and coral. I used fushia as an accent in the flowers and napkins. I think you are right not to use fushia as it would clash with the merlot--but what about something darker. Something more like raspberry. I'm not sure exactly what color the walls of the venue are, or how much color there really is. It doesn't matter if there isn't much of that color in the venue, but if it's the color of the carpet and is going to be in every picture, it's something to consider.

I think lime green would look awesome with a soft pink/peach shade (think sand in the Bahamas). Green and purple are classic complements. I loved the green and turquoise I had. It looked very Caribbean. You could also do bright green with another shade of green, like jungle green. Black would really make the lime green pop though I'm not sure I really like the combination that much.

With a bright color like that, you need to go with another color in the same "family", or as I like to say Crayola box. If you are getting a pastel shade, you should stick with the pastel colors. If you pick a bright bold color, you should stick with a tropical or bright bold box. It can be a dark purple and still be a vivid bold dark purple.

I'd also use sand to help neutralize some of it. Perhaps sand in your centerpieces or sand colored mixed in with linens. Just figure out what overall look you are going for. Is it casual or formal? Is it relaxed or sophisticated? Once you get the atmosphere, the colors will come easier.

Good luck! Don't listen to anyone who doesn't like lime green. Some of us love it b/c it suits our personality. We aren't all shy quiet types who just want pastels!!!
Reply:If you want the focus to be on the lime green and also blend with a historic setting, I would go with a dark brown.
