Paint nails or not for bridesmaid?

I'm in a wedding on Friday and my dress is red (the chiffon overlay is slightly fuchsia but the dress is basically red). The bride suggested us having our nails painted but I'm not sure if I want to or not because I don't like red nail polish on my hands (I should also mention I am a red head so already I have a color clashing problem with the dress and my hair.) We are wearing open toed black shoes so would it look alright to just paint my toenails red and leave my fingernails natural or should I not paint any of my nails? Is there another combo that would look better such as a French manicure? Thanks!

Being a nail technician i get these questions all the time! I would go with a bold red on toes and do a french manicure on the nails. However, I would also recommend a American manicure, An American Manicure in my opinion is a softer "french manicure". It is done with a softer white rather than the whitest white (the one that look like white out). It also can be done with the pale pink, beige, or nude. To me it looks more elegant, and simple. Personally french manicure is real nice, but I always do it for a prom or homecoming. American manicure is more mature and not so high schoolish. Here is a link to look and understand the difference.

Good Luck! Also, the dress is pretty bold so do an easy color on the nail.
Reply:I would paint my nails, just pick a color that is right for you. As long as it's not black, neon or a dark color that would stand out. French manicure, light pink, light peach. Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. (Be sure to shave your legs, since they usually massage your legs too. It's my favorite way to relax!) Have fun, you'll look fab!
Reply:Check with the bride first if it is ok that you go with a french manicure.
Reply:Yeah I would get a french manicure if I were you. It looks pretty anyways. Good luck!

Thanks Christina -- I never heard of an American Manicure -- I'll have to try that for myself.

It's classic and you can never go wrong.
Reply:Check with the bride if you think you should or just go with French fingers and toes. Very elegant and no clashing problem. Thank the bride for the manicures or treat her to a service if you can afford to. Red hair is beautiful don't worry about the clashing thing.
Reply:French manicure definately!! It is such a classic, whereas red enamel can look slightly vampy!! Also, red hair, red dress and red nails could be too much and natural looking nails would help to soften the look. Keep toenails and nails the same. Have a great time! x
Reply:YOU STOP THAT AND DO AS THE BRIDE SAYS...IT'S HER DAY AND HAS HER OWN VISION...QUIT CRYING I'M SURE YOU'LL LOOK GOOD ANYWAY
